There are 40 million people trapped in modern slavery. 10 million of them are children. Despite six years of coordinated global efforts to address the problem, there has been little if any improvement.

Who we are & what we do

SlaveCheck is a SaaS technology & services company with a two-part 'profit for purpose’ business model:

  1. We generate profits from corporates who use the SlaveCheck Platform to simplify and automate mandatory modern slavery compliance

  2. We reinvest profits into providing free technologies, data, training and support to NGOs and other modern slavery stakeholders to help them lead, coordinate and manage the global collaborations necessary to eliminate modern slavery

We are a small team of passionate professionals with successful track records in tech start-ups, IPOs, SaaS solution delivery, social development and large-scale problem solving and ecosystem management.

The role of General Manager, UK

Because the UK is 4-5 years ahead of Australia in terms of mandatory modern slavery reporting, we are ideally looking for someone who has been involved in some capacity in the UK corporate modern slavery compliance program.

Working collaboratively with the Australian team, you will initially need to cover all bases in setting up our UK base: pre-sales marketing; sales; customer onboarding and support. As the UK / EU customer base grows, you’ll need to recruit a local team. You will have full operational and P&L accountability for UK / EU corporate modern slavery solutions, the profit generator that funds the SlaveCheck Purpose.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Marketing: proactive engagement of the private sector; building a relationship network among modern slavery compliance managers; telephone and email marketing; build your brand as a modern slavery compliance expert through events and social media

  • Sales: devise creative ways to maximise market reach; design innovative deal structures for large corporates, industry groups and associations; negotiate and close sales

  • Customer Support: manage the onboarding and support of new customers; first-level technical support and help desk

  • Education & Training: conduct a regular webinar program covering general modern slavery advice, news, data and insights; modern slavery roundtable discussions; platform training and workshops;

  • Technology: Work closely with the dev teams to evolve the SlaveCheck platform – drafting functional requirements, monitoring dev progress and providing user acceptance testing (UAT). Scouting for potential new technologies and new technology partners.

  • Business Management: manage all aspects of the UK office including people & culture; office accommodation; regulatory compliance; optimising financial performance; P&L accounting and reporting.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in one or more of Business, Engineering, Financial Management or a related field

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience leading significant SaaS B2B platform operations

  • Demonstrated experience in business development including marketing and sales

  • Demonstrated experience in growing and supporting a technology / SaaS customer base

  • Demonstrated experience in building and managing teams

  • Demonstrated experience in financial management and reporting
