Inquiry into the Modern Slavery Amendment (Australian Anti-slavery Commissioner) Bill 2023

SlaveCheck is pleased to present our submission for the Inquiry into the Modern Slavery Amendment (Australian Commissioner) Bill 2023.

 

Our Global Strategy Advisor, Kevin Hyland, who was the former and first UK Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, brings his vast experience and expertise to the submission.

Firstly, the Australian Government should be commended for making significant progress in the establishing of an Anti-Slavery Commissioner.

Other recommendations include:

​

• Clearer definition on how the commissioner provides support to Australian entities and entities carrying out business in Australia.

​

• Provide leadership to consumers and unions.
